Hailing from the Skatay Range, Himeko lived a pretty normal life until she left the Range at the age of 13 to explore the world. However her first stop was Kugane, where she was entranced by the culture. She tries to learn what she can from the natives, mostly latching on to the fashion and food and learned how to become a weaver and culinarian to make them for herself, adopting the name Himeko to fit her new surroundings, and even learning the local dialect of Hingan.
At age 22, a noble Dalmascan family, House Aura, visited Kugane for a bit of business when they stumbled across Himeko at a local restaurant practicing a new dish. Enamored by her skills they hire her to work in their estate in Dalmasca. At first she was basically a trophy House Aura would use because the upper class simply want to be seen with one of the Viera. Over time she would grow to not be a servant of the House but more akin to family and she saw them that way as well.
When she turned 27, thats when the Garlean invasion happened, destroying all of Damasca. However to save her family from falling victim to dying under Garlean boots, Himeko offered herself up to serve the army in order to make sure her family stayed safe. The family opposed this from the start but understood what she was doing. 5 years into serving, Garlean forces reached Ala Mhigo, occupying the area and taking prisoners where possible and those that refused... died honorable deaths. One of these prisoners happened to be an Ala Mhigan Red Mage. The Garleans forced this Red Mage to teach anyone capable of using magics to expand their ranks. One of which was Himeko, the little Viera only here to save her family. She would study with the Red Mage daily, growing to be more friends than student/teacher. The Red Mage even taught her how to make a rapier with a magical focus, quickly going back to her time as a crafter making them the best she can.
At age 37, she would finally plan to desert from the army and try to save her family another way. So with the help of her Red Mage mentor, they both tried to sneak out one night. They almost get to go home without a hitch but in the last moments they were spotted, in a brave sacrifice, her teacher, no her friend, would offer his life to stay behind so Himeko could escape. With only one place in her mind to go, she would return to Kugane where she continued her life as a crafter and found out that her family was funding the resistance army in their own efforts to end the war faster. After learning her family was safe she decided to be a traveling crafter, supplying anyone in need on her journey, always keeping a watchful eye out for any Garleans in fear they will drag her back to the army or worse, kill her.
Now currently 57, and with news that the Garleans have been defeated by the Eorzean Alliance, Himeko continues her crafting endeavors but now has one major mission ahead of her: Find her family and finally live the happy life she once had.
